Since its founding in 1985 by Marc Sterling, Sterling’s Bookkeeping and Tax Service has grown into a firm to not only service individuals, but a wide variety of businesses as well. Sterling’s now serves over 2,000 bookkeeping and tax clients in all 50 states.
In 2005, Jon Chester, Kevin Gardner and Gilbert Castillo were named partners in the firm. They will continue the tradition that Marc began over 20 years ago; of growing and meeting the demands of our clients needs into the future.
We are strongly committed to employing professional individuals that give our clients the very best service. We have the resources and knowledge to assist you with day-to-day operations. This includes payroll, loan assistance, IRS issues, sales tax reports, financial reports and income tax for individuals and businesses.
Sterling’s is an established full-servce bookkeeping, tax, and consulting firm, open 52 weeks a year, Monday through Friday. We don’t close for the summer, because you don’t. If you have a need for financial services but can’t utilize a full-time accountant, we can provide you with services at a rate much lower than having to hire an individual, saving you wages and payroll taxes.

Jon Chester
A Texas native from Lubbock, TX, Jon earned his BBA in Accounting from Texas Tech in 1990 and a Master’s in Taxation from UTA in 2003. Before joining the firm in 2005, Jon had worked in corporate accounting, international tax and tax compliance for Mary Kay, Inc. and YUM! Restaurants (KFC,
Taco Bell, Pizza Hut). Jon earned his CPA in 1995 and is a member of the AICPA and TSCPA. In addition, he is an active community member within professional and social organizations.

Kevin Gardner
A South Carolina native, Kevin is a graduate of Texas A&M earning a BBA in Accounting. He joined Sterling’s in 2000 as a manager in the tax department. In 2002, he became certified to practice before the IRS as an Enrolled Agent and looks forward to pursuing his Masters Degree in Taxation. Kevin also enjoys spending time with his wife Emily, working outdoors and watching sports.

Marc Sterling
Originally from Miami Beach, FL, Marc earned his BBA in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin in 1984. As the original founder of the firm, Marc continues to serve as a public speaker for numerous events and has written for industry publications. Prior to establishing Sterlings, Marc’s experience includes 3 tax seasons with the IRS, 4 years of public accounting and controller of a natural gas marketing company. Marc resides in Sedona, AZ servicing existing clients. He enjoys playing tennis, hiking, boating, and many other outdoor activities with his pride and joy, son Trevor.

Gilbert Castillo
A Texas native from Crosbyton TX, Gilbert has over 20 years of experience in office management, accounts payable, payroll and accounting. His corporate experience includes: Mary Kay Inc., Evercom Systems Communication and Louisville Gas & Electric. In addtion, Gilbert has owned a successful business, which he has since sold. He is the office manager responsible for administrative duties including billing, collections and HR. He speaks fluent Spanish and is the firm’s liaison to the Hispanic community. In addition, he is an active community member with professional and social organizations. For fun, he enjoys playing outdoor sports and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks.
